Ready, Set, Adventure!

DAY ONE


Morning:

Catch the sunrise on Lake Michigan in historic Lake Park. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the mastermind behind New York City's Central Park, Lake Park offers several panoramic vantage points connected by a scenic trail system, as well as a 3-par golf course and the historic North Point Lighthouse. The park overlooks Milwaukee's popular six-mile Lakefront Trail, perfect for walking or jogging along the lakefront. Schlitz Audubon Nature Center(1111 E. Brown Deer Rd./414-352-2880) on Lake Michigan offers 185 acres of unspoiled natural beauty and six miles of nature trails just 15 minutes from the heart of downtown. 

Afternoon:

Unwind and watch the world float by on one of the city's many cruise boats, including the Edelweiss I and II (414-272-3225), the Iroquois (414-294-9450), the Brew City Queen, flagship of River Walk Boat Rentals (414-283-9999), or the new Princess II, a 149-passenger luxury yacht operated by Classic Cruise Line (414-762-9400). 

Command your own vessel at Juneau Park Paddleboats, Inc. (414-466-7235). Located in Veterans Park on Milwaukee's lakefront, the company offers paddleboat, hydro-bike and RC sailboat rentals at the park's picturesque, tree-lined lagoon. Sea Dog Sailing (414-687-3203) gives you the chance to experience Milwaukee's scenic shoreline from Lake Michigan aboard a 34-foot sailing yacht. Take a ride on a pontoon boat along the Milwaukee River withPerformance Yacht Services LLC (414-788-0990) or venture out for a relaxing day on a Great Lake with or without a skipper.

Landlubbers will find plenty to do down at the lake as well, from inline skate rentals to kite flying. Gift of Wings (414-273-5483), at McKinley Marina in Veterans Park, features kites of all shapes and sizes and free flying lessons.

Evening:

Experience Milwaukee's culture of entertainment, celebration and fun. Professional sports, two Theater Districts, a summer-long festival scene, and exciting nightlife along Water Street, historic Cathedral Square and The Historic Third Ward offer endless entertainment options. DAY TWO

Morning:

Take the bait and hop aboard Reel Sensation Charters (4141-384-8096) orBlue Max Charters (414-828-1094), just two of the numerous fishing charters offering access to Lake Michigan's considerable bounty, including Coho and King Salmon. More than 100 species of fish have been recorded in the lake, making it the largest sport fishery of all the Great Lakes.

Afternoon:

Bikers, hikers and bird watchers will find the Milwaukee County ParksSystem's Oak Leaf Trail (www.countyparks.com/trails/oaklftrail.html) a haven amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. The trail features over 100 miles of multiple loops through all the major parkways and parks in the system.


Time to eat and enjoy some shopping in Milwaukee's historic neighborhoods. (Check out the Neighborhoods page for details.) Choose from a variety of coffee shops and cafes and then discover boutiques, galleries, specialty and antique shops just waiting for you! 

Evening:
Venture over to ComedySportz (420 S. 1st St./414-272-8888) for one of the most unique experiences Milwaukee has to offer! This Improv-type comedy relies on audience participation for its success and guarantees a family friendly atmosphere.

DAY THREE

Morning:
Head west of Milwaukee just 10 minutes for some skating at the Pettit National Ice Center (500 S. 84th St./414-266-0100), a U.S. Olympic speed skating training facility...the only one of its kind in the United States and one of only a handful in the world!

Get a behind the scenes look at what it takes to bring a legend to life! Harley-Davidson (11700 W. Capitol Dr./877-883-1450) has been an integral part of Milwaukee for over a century and with their factory tours you can immerse yourself in their heritage. Check out their engine timeline--from the classic "flathead" to the contemporary Twin Cam 88--, visit the gift shop for tour-related merchandise, and get the chance to sit atop the latest Harley-Davidson and Buell models!

Afternoon:

Explore an arid desert and a tropical rain forest! Head over to the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (524 S. Layton Blvd./414-649-9830) and make your way through its three glass domes, each soaring 140 feet high! In addition to the tropical and arid domes, you will find a floral show dome with exhibits that change five times annually.

Evening:
